What are some Cultural Practices regarded as been Obstacle to Development?

Cultural Practices

Cultural practices are practiced and implemented on every child since its birth. He or She has to follow it as it has become a tradition and everyone in his family has already followed it and has been following. The point arise that what actually are these Cultural Practices? It is defined as

Cultural practice generally refers to the manifestation of a culture or sub- culture, especially in regard to the traditional and customary practices of a particular ethnic or other cultural group. In the broadest sense, this term can apply to any person manifesting any aspect of any culture at any time. However, in practical usage it commonly refers to the traditional practices developed within specific ethnic cultures, especially those aspects of culture that have been practiced since ancient times.

The point arises why are these not catered as yet. Development plays a very important role in country and even its effects the individuals, the more the country is developed, there will be more opportunities for its Nationals and will have a better scence of understanding things. We can understand it by differentiating it between United states and African Countries.

There are Minor and Major issues affecting the development and in which Cultural and Religious obligations have become an Obstacle.

Starting from the very common issue, Women. Women are bound to so many things. They are not allowed to Work, where overall when we count the population of the world. We find women more than men. And when it comes to their education and jobs. The figures are devastating. When Majority will stay at home and sit to eat only and not work then how will the system improve? There are so many talented women who are not allowed to show up their talent and are either married in a very young age or asked to stay at home and become a housewife forever and serve their men. This issue is a huge drawback to development which gives rise to many other problems.

If women stay at home and brought up children as their chief role, they will have more children than those who work. There is nothing wrong with having lots of children, as long as you can provide for them facilities and their basic needs But this problem gives a rise to over population which itself is a huge obstacle to development. It would be easier to understand if I give example of a family with many members but with lesser resources. What else it would bring out, Poverty and nothing else.

More Specifically if I talk about India, it is one of the most over populated country in the world, and it is the country which proudly says that they are a land of Culture and Diversity. But when we talk about the figures. This Country has the highest Crime rate; Poverty lies in majority of the households. Mismanagement and Disabilities can be found everywhere in the system.

Lack of Education, Science and technology, Corruption, Food crises, Ethnic hatered, lack of unity, Rise to Illegal authorities, lack of basic facilities like sanitation and many more emerge due to conflicts between Culture and Development
