If you are an inhabitant of Pakistan or India or any other European or Asian country for that matter, you must know about the recent Indo-Pak tensions that prevailed between these two!! It has ALWAYS been a bumpy ride between these two! They are like the two hot-headed neighbours that always blame one another for throwing trash in their way or for parking in their space.
As the tensions between these two escalated, the whole lot of people from both sides indulged fully and took part in it! Some had to spread hate speech and unfortunately they sided with their egos rather than logic, while many others tried their best to send out peace messages through songs and tweets.
Pakistan’s PM, Mr Imran Khan batted a sixer by sending back the captured Indian pilot as a peace gesture and deescalating the tensions. However the BITTERSWEET relation of these countries still is more on the bitter taste than sweet these days.
A recent song “Humsaaye, maa jaye” with a rap touch to it by Bushra Ansari and her sister Asma Abbas is solid gold, they rap to the verses written by Neelum Ahmad Bashir that highlight the unnecessary divisions between the neighbouring countries. The song starts with a happy mood as the setting is of two women from both the sides, who are trying to converse through a wall but the wall is too high and has glass pieces on it and will cut them if they try to shake hands- this here has a deep meaning to it, telling us that many common people want peace and they want to be on friendly terms with each other while some war-mongers and politicians act like sharp pieces of glass and incise any hand that tries to cross the demarcated line between the two countries! The two women though can’t see each other still sing for each other and express their absolute desire to meet each other and hang out! They dance and seem to enjoy each other’s company so much. They are seen wanting to see the other side of the wall and enjoy the things the other side has to offer too!! They want to experience each other’s world too but Oh!! These man made boundaries, these temporarily made permanent lines that cut our motherland in two and the divide the people into hundreds.
This song has not only pierced the hearts of a million of Pakistanis but has also reached the other side of the border and has become their jam too! People across the border are also appreciating this amazing effort and are sending out messages that they want to be in the light of peace too, far away from the dark and gloomy wars!
Let us all spread Love and light to others as a war between two nuclear-nations can never decide a winner. There can be no winners but only survivors in a war and nobody of us wants that!!
Let us all remember that Kindness and love are the languages which the blind can see and the deaf can hear!!
