“Happiness is something that lies within you, if only…. You look for it.”
A simple statement, but it wipes-out all the doubts!
There’re so many notions on happiness but the question to ponder is, what happiness actually is? Why’s it needed?
Monks & Buddhists have always hunted it as an inside job. As Gautama Buddha greatly said; “happiness too is a form of suffering”. Then the mind asks, why’s it ok to suffer? The answer also lies in Buddha’s teachings when he asks to “free oneself from ego & needs”.
An egoist mind always seeks happiness from outside; such as money, people, desires & many more; yet when he gains them, he’s in search of MORE!
While searching a person undergoes numerous internal pressure like expectations & assumptions. This of course is human’s nature, but it’s also a human who can control it.
Today, most people believe in illusions that terminate true happiness from their lives. And it’s one of the core reason of mental health issues.
Expectations only make one’s life a mess. Robert Frost in his poem “The Road Not Taken” rightly asks to be a creator, to take the roads that are less taken-in order to create your happiness!
May you all find true happiness in your lives!
