Us, Humans when asked about the most important and basic needs for survival will say Food, Water and shelter! Except for a little portion, we all the others forget what role the environment of a place, it’s weather plays in our lives. A place’s weather and climate
make a huge difference. A place even very scenic and luxurious but without the habitable climate will not even be remotely considered by anybody to live in!
For many years we have been listening and learning about the effects of Global warming and Climate crises and we pay not much heed to it as we think it will be in future and is not something to Fret about now, But it has become so real now, the climate crises is not arriving, it has Arrived!! Yes, it is here, there are rapid increases in the world’s temperature. With world temperature rise already 1°C above pre-industrial levels, new research shows that there is only a 0.5°C safety margin left in the system before the most vulnerable groups of people suffer severely. The evidences of this Anthropogenic climate change are stacking up and they all point towards Apocalyptic and Catastrophic conditions.
While so many of us don’t even know much about it and many others are least bothered, this 16 year old girl from Sweden named GRETA ERNMAN THUNBERG has done a great deal on her part, she is a climate activist, and she became a prominent figure after her first School strike for climate outside the Swedish parliament.
Over 1,5 million students on school strike 15/3. We proved that it does matter what you do and that no one is too small to make a difference.

The Heat waves and Wildfires in Sweden were the motivating factors for her, and she demanded that the Swedish government should reduce carbon emissions in accordance with the Paris agreement, and she protested by sitting outside the Riksdag (national legislature) everyday cutting her school hours with the sign that read Skolstrejk för klimatet (school strike for the climate). Her efforts didn’t go in vain, she got so hyped up and she inspired an international movement to fight against climate change, On Fridays, thousands of schoolchildren strike against climate change in more than 100 countries around the world and this movement is coined as #FridaysForFuture.
According to https://t.co/pzYB6XuR6u we have already passed way over one million students on school strike today.
Over 2000 places in 125 countries on all continents.
And we have only just started! #fridaysforfuture #schoolstrike4climate

Keeping in view her extraordinary abilities and an untiring zeal in her she has been nominated as a candidate to receive this year’s Nobel peace prize.
“We have proposed Greta Thunberg because if we do nothing to halt climate change, it will be the cause of wars, conflict and refugees, Greta Thunberg has launched a mass movement which I see as a major contribution to peace”- Norwegian Socialist MP Freddy Andre Overgaard told AFP news agency.
If Miss Greta wins this year’s Nobel peace prize, she would become the youngest recipient after Miss Malala Yousafzai, who was 17 years old when awarded with the prize!
