Pakistan and India have never gotten along, no matter how hard the efforts have been. It was recent when India tried to start a war with Pakistan through insinuations about the Pulwama attack and a few here and there tugs with the LOC, but it was handled amazingly by Pakistani leaders and it kept war at bay!
Who knew, it was just about time!
The recent political drama in Indian Occupied Kashmir didn’t come as much of a surprise (sadly) because India has been stripping away power from it since 1947, and has been trying forcibly since then to take control over it!
Let me walk you through history to get a better understanding of what is happening!
· Standstill Agreement
It was an agreement signed between India, Pakistan and the princely states in 1947. Maharajah Hari Singh offered this agreement of his own accord, which was agreed upon by Pakistan but India rejected it. According to it no other accord could be made under International Law.
· United Nations Security Council Resolution 47
Some important points are:
a) Jammu & Kashmir is a contested region.
b) When conditions are favourable, a plebiscite will take place.
This plebiscite has not yet been taken, as it will let people decide their future and not force.
“Everyone knows that India is illegally occupying Kashmir.” – JNU Professor Nivedita Memon
· Article 370 and 35A revoked
According to these articles of Indian constitution, A special status to the region of Jammu and Kashmir was given, allowing it to have a separate constitution, a state flag and autonomy over the internal administration of the state.
On 5 August 2019, President Ram Nath Kovind issued a constitutional order revoking the 1954 order, and making all the provisions of the Indian constitution applicable to Jammu and Kashmir. This is the tip of the iceberg as to avoid any rebellion there has been a strong security cover, an additional 8,000 troops to the region, local politicians critical of this move have been put under house arrest, Internet and phone services have been cut down, schools and mosques are locked down. People are brutally treated and are shot mercilessly.
Mehbooba Mufti, a former chief minister of J&K state, condemned it.
It will have catastrophic consequences for the subcontinent. GOIs intentions are clear. They want the territory of J&K by terrorising it’s people. India has failed Kashmir in keeping its promises.

Pakistani leaders have reacted with anger, “The Pakistan army stands firmly by the Kashmiris in their just struggle. . . . We are prepared and shall go to any extent to fulfil our obligations,”-senior military commander
I condemn India's attack across LOC on innocent civilians & it's use of cluster munitions in violation of int humanitarian law and it's own commitments under the 1983 Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons. UNSC must take note of this international threat to peace & security.

Let us all remember Kashmir in our prayers and pray for peace to prevail soon as, Justice delayed is justice denied!
