Just two month before “Battle of Waterloo” where Napoleon is to be defeated by Seventh Coalition .
On April 10, 1815, Mount Tambora(volcano) in Indonesia( then called as Dutch East indies), started eruption. Ground was shaking and air was filled with explosives. British troops in Java which were 780 miles away from Mount Tambora, though that there next post was under attack so they went to rescue their fellows but there was no such thing.
For four month volcano was actively erupting gases, ash and lava.Clouds of gases and ash erupted from volcano reached up to 20 miles in atmosphere layer stratosphere, if something reached that level so it take long time to wash from there. These clouds started absorbing sunlight, which drop Earth temperature nearly 3 degrees. This drop in temperature bring famines and floods around the globe.
Hungary experienced brown snow fall and Italy experienced red snow fall through out the year. Snow was falling in different part of world in the month of June even.
Crops were failed because of Nonseasonal rains, Low temperature, Floods
In Europe fields were destroyed before this tragedy, because of wars. Hundreds of thousands died due to starvation,floods and coldness.Riots and looting was seen every where during this era.
Lack of feed for horses and high cost of travelling inspired a German “Baron Karl Von Drais” to invented bicycle during this era. Mary Shelly wrote “Frankenstein” and Byron wrote “Darkness” in this disaster.
This year is also know as “ Eighteen hundred and frozen to death”.
